September is National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Every September, we raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and the millions of families affected. At Carelink Services, we understand how difficult it can be to watch a loved one experience memory loss, and we’re committed to supporting families through compassionate, reliable care.

 Why Awareness Matters

  • Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, slowly impacting memory, thinking, and daily functioning.
  • More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s.
  • Every 65 seconds, someone in the U.S. develops the disease.
  • By 2050, cases are expected to nearly double. The earlier families recognize symptoms, the sooner they can access resources, support, and care.

Early Signs of Alzheimer’s
Some early warning signs to watch for include:

  • Memory loss that disrupts daily life (forgetting important dates, names, or events).
  • Difficulty planning or solving familiar problems.
  • Trouble completing routine tasks.
  • Confusion with time or place.
  • Misplacing items and being unable to retrace steps.
  • Personality or mood changes, including withdrawal from social activities.

If you notice these changes in yourself or a loved one, speak with a healthcare provider.

How to Get Involved This Month
You can make a difference by joining awareness and fundraising efforts:

  • Walk to End Alzheimer's– Find a walk near you and join the fight.
  • Alzheimer Donations & Research – Contribute to research and family resources.
  • Check your local community events for educational sessions, vigils, and caregiver support groups.
